The Effect of Stabilization Exercise Using Pressurized Exercise on the Thickness of Abdominal Muscle
Han Jong-Man

Kim Byung-Kon
Abstract
The subjects of this study performed 6 weeks of training with static stabilization exercises to investigate their effects on muscle thickness. The subjects were randomly divided into three groups; the group performing pressurization exercises utilizing an unstable supporting surface (n=10), the group performing pressurization exercises utilizing a stable supporting surface (n=10), and the control group (n=8). In order to find out the effects on the muscle thickness of the abdominal muscles, ultrasound images were obtained and image analysis was performed three times during this research. This data was collected at the start of the study, at the half-way point, and at the end of the study. There were significant differences in the timing-to-group interaction with regards to changes in muscle thickness of the rectus abdominis, the external oblique abdominis, and the internal oblique abdominis (p<0.05). However there was no statistically significant difference in group variation (p>0.05). Therefore, it was confirmed that the type of support surface employed while performing low-strength movement with pressurization has an effect on muscle thickness. In conclusion, a stabilization exercise program, due to changes in strength applied with pressurization, will affect changes in muscle thickness, and accordingly contribute to an improvement of the strength of the hips
